Nokia announced its first Windows Phone 7 operating system powered smartphones Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 few days back. At the time of launch, Lumia 710 was priced at Rs.18,999 but phone was unable to create hype. Due to low sells then expected Nokia cut phone prices to more reasonable price. Its really a good news for potential consumers of the product, the Lumia 710 is now available on websites such as Flipkart, Letsbuy as well as with a few local resellers for as low as Rs.15,490.

The Lumia 710 is available through these sites with a bill as well as a warranty of twelve months which is normal for other handsets. The main reason behind this price cut is that most of the retailers state that the handset is not popular at all. Phone has decent specifications, design, build quality and long lasting battery. The only problem with it was the limited amount of applications available for download in the market. As Windows Phone 7 operating system is still in its budding stages, and Android has vast varieties of phones with ranging features from different manufactures.

Nokia Lumia 710 Features:

3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution under Gorilla glass

Windows Phone 7 OS

Nokia’s Clear Black Display technology

3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi

GPS with A-GPS support for Bing Maps

Bluetooth with A2DP + EDR, USB 2.0

5MP AF camera with LED flash and 720p video recording

FM radio

With this price drop, the Lumia 710 does seem like quite an attractive option for a would be consumer, that is if WP7 is their choice of operating system. Now we will keep an eye over Lumia 800 price cut.

The Nokia Asha 200 and Nokia Asha 201 are closely related pair of messaging phone , which are cheap phone targeted at the mass market. All features of the both phone are same, the only deference between these two set is – the Asha 200 is a dual-SIM handset, where the Asha 201 is a single-SIM handset.

The Nokia Asha 200 and 201 are not a smartphone but both devices are series 40 featured phones run simple JAVA application, also they comes with pre-installed software like a music player, a web browser, an email client , social networking support and support Nokia life tools.

The Asha 200 can handle two SIM at a time, and five different SIM cards can be managed with built-in SIM Manager . The second SIM slot on the side of the phone is a hot-swapped slot, which is a pretty cool feature of that phone. Of course, this feature is not in 201, but oddly the same cost of both 200 and 201,

Both phones comes with a large 1430 mAh battery that gives 7 hours talk time and 36 days standby time, which is pretty cool. Expected 200 and 201 measures 115 x 61 x 14mm and weighs 105 grams. Both handsets come in a very wide variety of colors.

If you are looking for a cheap phone like a BlackBerry, then these phones will be a good alternative, especially Nokia Asha 200 with dual SIM. Nokia Asha 200 And Nokia Asha 201 are expected in fourth quarter of 2011 .

When we come at specifications of Nokia Ahsa 200 and Asha 201, the dimension are 115 x 61 x 14 mm and weight 105 grams, both are dual band GSM device, the screen is a 2.4 inch 320 x 240 pixel TFT display , mini QWERTY keypad, a 2.0 megapixel camera with video capture capability, stereo FM with a 3.5 mm jack, a microSD slot for external memory and Bluetooth. And these comes with EDGE technology for faster internet browsing.

The handset has a 5 megapixel camera, 2.8 inch screen, 208 MHz processor, and even a free projector stand. It supports MP4 as well as 3GPP formats and comes with 1GB of built-in storage and 4GB micro SD included. External storage can be extended up to 16GB of storage. Its 1200 mAh battery is enough for a day long audio and video experience. But the phone battery has only 4hrs and 30 min of talk time power which will frustrate some of its customers.

Few days before, Airtel launched its radio channel service, iRadio to Airtel Digital TV subscribers. Now its turn for Tata to provide its users the best in television technology. This new service is based on a Media Delivery Network (MDN) which is a media-centric content delivery, distribution and management solution from Ericsson. It will use Ericsson’s WatchPoint Content Management System, Xport Time-Shifted TV and Xport Producer storage encoding. The company will also provide operation and maintenance for this new service from Tata Sky.

Tata Sky + HD customers should connect their set top box to their broadband connection via an Ethernet cable to access the VOD service. A customer can then select his choice of video from the title based search function.

Google’s Android Market has exceeded 10 billion app downloads with its three-year-old app store growing at 1 billion app downloads per month. Chu, director of Android developer ecosystem, thanked Android developers for creating the apps, saying they are continuing to push the limits on what’s possible. Android Market was launched in October 2008 and is the closest rival to the Apple App Store, which reached 10 billion downloads in January this year–less than three years since it debuted. In July, Apple said total downloads surpassed 15 billion.

It took Google’s Android Market 20 months to reach its first 1 billion app downloads. 2nd billion milestone took another 5 months to complete, and now 1b app downloads every month and growing. Record says that every Android smartphone is equipped with 50 apps, as there are 200 million Android devices out there.

In order to celebrate the milestone, Google is partnering with some Android app developers (like EA, Gameloft, Glu Mobile and others) to offer a bunch of apps each day for 10c each. The promotion will go on for the next 10 days. Everyday around 10 new apps were discounted.
