Sony Ericsson Xperia Users Get Android 4.0 (ICS) Update

Sony Ericsson was the first Android smartphone manufacturer company that announced Ice Cream Sandwich updates for its Xperia line up. And Today they released Android 4.0 ICS update for three Xperia phones Xperia Arc S, Xperia Ray and Xperia Neo V. After this update release Android users of other manufacturers are waiting for updates to their phone. This update is released for high-end Sony Ericsson Xperia devices and update for Sony Xperia S is still in pipeline.

Google launched Android 4.0 back in November and after a long wait of 5 months we have seen an update. Many big players of Android phone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Motorola and others are still planning their updates. When I was trying to update my Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V phone using Update app, it shows ‘You have the latest software updates’. I think it will take few more hours before I get the update for my device.

There are many improvements in terms of user experience and features in ICS over last stable version i.e. Gingerbread. The new OS has revamped user experience, better multi-tasking, hardware acceleration support, deny call with a SMS and lot more features.

All other Android phone’s including Xperia series may or may not get ICS update by their manufacturer because of hardware limitations and other company rules. Actually companies strategy is always set to provide early update for high-end devices and leave cheap devices. They did this to reduce extra financial investment in updates and to promote new devices.
